Governor's Mansion still negatives, photographs, slides, and panels, 1993-1995.

The Governor is the chief executive of the state whose function is to administer the laws of the state. These photographs, slides, negatives, and panels document the history of the Governor's Mansion in Alabama from about 1900 through 1994, including renovations and justifications of renovations past and present. This history of the Governor's Mansion is presented in three different ways. The two print albums cover the history of the Governor's Mansion most thoroughly. The negatives of the slides are in handmail envelopes in SG20629. The slide presentation delineating the history of the Governor's Mansion takes two slide carousels, and the panels specifically address the restoration of living conditions in the Governor's Mansion in the 1990s, with one panel depicting exterior views, two panels depicting the second floor living quarters, and two panels depicting the first floor public access level. Much of this photographic and historical work was done at the direction of First Lady Marsha Folsom. The panels are 35" x 20" folded up, and are on the top shelf above SG20629. The slides in SG20628B and SG20626C generally duplicate the photographic prints. There are many photos of past governors and first ladies, as well as exterior and interior views of the Mansion itself, including specific rooms. There are also photos of at least one christening, one wedding, and one inauguration taken at the Governor's Mansion.

6 cubic ft. (1 records center carton, 2 slide carousels-each in its owns acid-free container, and 6 folding foam board panels, wrapped together in one oversized container).
